In Rajasthan, four Sikh men were beaten up, thrashed and kicked by a mob in Rajasthan’s Chainpura village in Ajmer district. The incident, which was filmed on a mobile phone has gone viral and has left many shocked as the video captures the Sikh men’s helplessness.
Although the video doesn’t specify when the incident took place or what the motive behind the attack is, Rajendra Singh, Superintendent of Police (SP), Ajmer, told PTI that the incident happened a month and a half ago when members of the Sikh community went to the village to ask for donations. He said that they were beaten up because they allegedly molested a woman from the village.

According to Huffington Post, members of the mob were arrested after the sarpanch of Chainpura had lodged a complaint. Following this, four members of the mob were earlier arrested under IPC section 151 (knowingly joining or continuing in assembly of five or more persons after it has been commanded to disperse).
The police also found out that the Sikh men didn’t molest the woman and were asked to file a FIR against members of the mob. However, a FIR wasn’t launched and the accused have now been released on bail.
Now, Rajasthan State Commission for Minorities has launched a probe into the matter. Jasbir Singh, Chairman, State Minorities Commission said, “I have asked the Ajmer police administration to check the matter. A factual report has been sought within 10 days.”
