BJP leaders meet WB governor Jagdeep Dhankar; demands CBI probe in Manish Shukla’s murder case

A BJP delegation met West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Sunday and demanded a CBI investigation into the "politically targeted killing" of BJP leader Manish Shukla in North 24 Parganas district. The state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has so far arrested three persons in connection with the killing.
The BJP met West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Sunday (October 11) and demanded a CBI probe into the "politically targeted killing" of BJP leader Manish Shukla in North 24 Parganas district.
Manish Shukla, who was a close aide of Barrackpore's BJP MP Arjun Singh, was shot dead in front of the party's office in Titagarh on October 4. The state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has so far arrested three persons in connection with the killing.

The BJP’s all-India vice-president Mukul Roy, MLA Sabyasachi Dutta and Joy Prakash Majumder visited Raj Bhavan on Sunday (October 11). They had a conversation with the governor regarding the murder of Manish Shukla.
Mukul Roy after meeting the governor said, “Our Manish Shukla was brutally murdered. The state government ordered a CID probe. I have seen from my personal experience what a CID probe does. We have no faith in a CID probe. We want a CBI investigation into this. We requested the Governor to look into our demand.”

After the meeting, Governor Jagdeep Dhankar tweeted, “BJP delegation led by National Vice President Mukul Roy demanded CBI investigation in the politically targeted killing of Manish Shukla. The delegation alleged CID was misdirecting investigation to falsely implicate political opponents in BJP.”
BJP lawmaker Arjun Singh had on Saturday (October 10) alleged that the CID was "plotting" to frame him in the murder case.
A PIL (Public Interest Litigation) has also been filed before the Calcutta High Court seeking a CBI investigation into the killing of Manish Shukla, claiming that a free and fair probe is only possible if a central and independent agency is in charge of it.
