Akhilesh Yadav was estimated as the key challenger to the BJP in the state. The opposition in the state predicted that an anti-incumbency tsunami would prevent BJP from regaining power. However, the BJP comfortably crossed the halfway mark in the first two hours of counting votes.

While discussing the Punjab election results 2022, Pawar said it's a "shock" for Congress. The Aam Aadmi Party benefited because of its performance in Delhi. He added he pitched for inciting a strategy to give an alternative to the BJP by bringing opposition parties together.

Trends and data suggest that Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP is on its way to sweep Punjab by ousting the Congress.

While talking to reporters, Pawar stated that Punjab is a state where Congress was in power; the change in the state is not favourable to the BJP, either. The result gives a shock to Congress.

The AAP's administration in Delhi helped it in the Punjab election as the common people living in the national capital have accepted Kejriwal and its party. Pawar stressed a need to initiate a process to give an "effective alternative" to the BJP by opposition based on a common minimum programme.

He added it is not a one day game; he is aware. Parliament's session will resume on March 14. He said all the ministers would be present and there would decide the future course of action. It's a duty to help people strengthen democracy by taking steps together, Pawar said.

He dismissed all possibilities on asking about any significant impact on Maharashtra's administration of the five states' results.
