Payal Ghosh enters politics, joins Ramdas Athawale's party

Synopsis

Soon after joining the party, Payal was reportedly named vice president of the RPI-A Mahila Morcha.

Film actor Payal Ghosh, who recently levelled rape charge on popular Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap, has joined Union Minister Ramdas Athawale's Republican Party of India.

Soon after joining the party, Payal was reportedly named vice president of the RPI-A Mahila Morcha.

Claiming that Payal's entry into the party would strengthen it, Athawale told media persons: "I told her, RPI(A) is Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s party. It helps all sections of society, be it Dalits, Adivasis, OBCs, villagers, slum dwellers. The RPI will get a good face if you join the party. After I discussed this with her, she was ready to join the party."

Athawale had backed the actor in her fight against director Anurag Kashyap. He even met Maharashtra Governor BS Koshyari along with Payal, demanding action against the filmmaker.
