Coronavirus: India records lowest daily infections with 18,795 new COVID cases

India on Tuesday reported 18,795 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest daily count in 201 days, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

India logged 18,795 new coronavirus infections, the lowest daily count in 201 days, taking the total tally of Covid-19 cases to 3,36,97,581. The death toll climbed to 4,47,373 with 179 fresh fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry data on Tuesday.

The active cases declined to 2,92,206, the lowest in 192 days, with a decrease of 7,414 cases in the last 24 hours. The active cases account for 0.87% of the total number of cases, according to the Union Health Ministry.

While the national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.78%, the highest since March 2020. So far, 32,9,58,002 have recovered from Covid-19, the data showed.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, so far, 56,57,30,031 tests have been conducted in the country, of which 13,21,780 tests were conducted to detect the infection on Monday.
 

The cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 86 crore so far, with over 1 crore doses given in the last 24 hours alone, the Union Health Ministry said.
