Apply mustard oil: If the colour of the henna on the hands is not thick, then do not wash it off with water. Many women have a habit to take the dried Mehendi off by washing their hands directly in the water.

Instead, scrape off the dried Mehendi and apply mustard oil (sarso ka tel) to it. The warmth of the oil will help the colour to get darken.

Applu vicks or any other balm overnight: The best time to apply mehendi in in the night. You can always sleep with it on. Or you can scrape it off, apply some picks or a balm on it and then leave it overnight. This will let you stay off from the water, as well as the mehendi will leave its beautiful dark colour on your palms.
