Prathibha's drastic decision
Prathibha had just stepped out to get clothes she had put out to dry. In that short time, her baby fell into a bucket of water and drowned. Heartbroken, she wrote a note and ended her life without telling anyone. It seems she had first tried to take her life by cutting her wrist.

Husband discovered the tragedy

The whole incident came to light only when the husband, Mahantesh, returned home at night. His wife didn't open the door, so he used his own key to get in. Mahantesh told the police he found Prathibha's body hanging and the baby's body lying on the bed.
