Hyderabad FC continued its fine run, as it overcame former champion, Chennaiyin FC's challenge to beat it 2-0 in the Indian Super League 2020-21, at the Tilak Maidan in Goa, on Sunday. With this win, Hyderabad is up to the third place, while Channaiyn stays at sixth.
The first half saw seven attacks until the 25th minute. Meanwhile, two minutes later, Sandaza scored the opening goal for Hyderabad, with his left foot to the centre from a similar position, thanks to Joao Victor's assist, as it happened to be the final action before half-time.
The second half saw eight attempts being made until the 78th minute. A couple of them hit the bar, from Eli Sabiá (46) and Fatkhulo Fatkhulloev (66), including a save from Hyderabad goalkeeper, Laxmikant Kattimani.
Nonetheless, four minutes later, Joel Chianese doubled the lead with his right foot to the bottom-left from the right, thanks to Joao Victor's assistance. Three more attempts were made, but to no avail, as Hyderabad walked away with the three points after the referee blew the full-time whistle.
Hyderabad has a week to prepare, as it would face off against the unpredictable fifth-placed NorthEast United FC on Sunday. Meanwhile, Chennaiyin has a date with fellow former champion, the seventh-placed Bengaluru FC, on Friday.
