The pre-monsoon showers are continuing to batter the state, with heavy rains reported in Dharwad, Gadag, Raichur, and Vijayanagara districts. In Hubballi, the rain started around 8 PM on Tuesday with strong winds, thunder, and lightning, and it poured for over an hour. Lakshmeshwar town in Gadag district even experienced a hailstorm for about half an hour in the evening. Rains also hit Kudligi, Huvinahadagali, and Harapanahalli in Vijayanagara district, destroying banana crops. In Hireedinni village of Maski taluk, Raichur, a coconut tree was burnt to a crisp after being struck by lightning.

13 acres of banana crops destroyed by rain
In Haralu village of Kottur taluk, heavy winds and rain on Tuesday evening completely flattened 13 acres of banana plantations. Farmer Basavanagowda Desai lost 7 acres, while Niranjanagowda Kotrugoudru lost 6 acres of banana and 4 acres of papaya crops. The farmers are devastated as the crops were just about ready for harvest. They have informed the Horticulture and Revenue Department officials, who have assured them that they will help get compensation for the crop damage.

Hailstorm in various parts of Sandur taluk
On Tuesday evening, Sandur and other parts of the taluk like Sultanapura, Krishnanagar, Chikkantapura, and Taranagar experienced a hailstorm accompanied by thunder, lightning, and wind. While the rain brought down the temperature, the strong winds caused trees to fall on the Sandur-Hospet road and near Sultanapura.
Many parts of Gadag district received heavy rain with thunder and lightning on Tuesday evening, bringing relief to people troubled by the scorching heat. In Mundargi taluk, the thunder and lightning were intense since the evening, followed by rain. Dambal village also saw heavy showers. Ron town and its surrounding villages had about ten minutes of rain with thunder and lightning. Gajendragad also experienced heavy rainfall.

People of Hubballi suffer due to heavy rain
The rain, which started with thunder and lightning, poured for more than half an hour, bringing some coolness to the city. However, it also created a lot of problems. Main roads in areas like Coin Road, Mahaveer Galli, Dajibanpeth, and Kamaripet got waterlogged, causing traffic issues. In several places, including behind the Sri Siddharoodha Swamy Math, Anand Nagar, and Old Hubballi, rainwater entered more than 10 houses.
