Mamata Banerjee visits SSKM hospital to meet TMC minister Jakir Hossain

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the hospital in Kolkata where Jakir Hossain was admitted after he got injured when unidentified people hurled a bomb at him in Murshidabad yesterday (February 17).
 

Mamata Banerjee alleged the crude bomb attack at West Bengal minister Jakir Hossain was "party of a conspiracy", claiming that some people were mounting pressure on him to quit the ruling TMC.

Meanwhile, Minister Zakir Hossain, who was injured in the bomb blast, was brought to SSKM Hospital today. According to hospital sources, he has multiple injuries from the left knee to the ankle. The lower part of the left leg was injured by the splinter. The ankle bone is broken. A large part of the foot was burnt.

Jakir Hossain and 25 party workers were seriously injured after unidentified attackers hurled a crude bomb at him in Nimtita railway station in Murshidabad district on Wednesday night.

A CID forensic team will investigate today (Thursday) whether a bomb was planted on the station premises. There is no CCTV on the platform where the incident took place. Therefore, it will take time to gather information. The bomb squad also went to the spot-on Thursday morning.

Regarding the incident, Jangipur Police District Superintendent Y Raghubangshi said, 'Minister Zakir Hossain has been attacked. We have started an investigation into the incident. A bomb squad is on its way to the spot. ''

The Trinamool Congress alleges that the state minister was attacked in a pre-planned manner before the assembly elections. Provincial Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, 'Jakir is an exceptional figure in the Trinamool Congress. An established industrialist and a man of hard work and ingenuity. Those involved in this incident should be arrested and punished immediately.”
