Mamata Banerjee likely to announce TMC's first list of candidates today

The Election Commission announced the election schedule for West Bengal on Friday (February 26). However, the list of Trinamool candidates has not been announced yet. According to sources, TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee is likely to release the first list of candidates for the upcoming Bengal polls on Monday (March 1).
 

According to Trinamool sources, Mamata Banerjee will announce the list of candidates after the party's election core committee meeting on Monday. Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee is due to meet RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday morning.

In West Bengal, the assembly election will be held in eight phases. However, it is being speculated that the TMC might publish the list of candidates for the election in stages.

In order to finalize the name of the candidate, the permission of poll strategist Prashant Kishore's organization will be required in addition to the party leaders. The Trinamool may change candidates in many places depending on the information they have gathered about the MLAs by conducting surveys in different places.

Many party leaders have not yet joined the BJP in the hope of getting a TMC’s ticket in the Assembly elections. If it is seen that they did not get tickets after the publication of the list of candidates, then they will jump to join the BJP.

The second phase of polling in the state will be held on April 1 in Nandigram. In January, Mamata Banerjee announced that she would contest from Nandigram constituency. Thus, it remains to be seen whether she finally announces her name as the election candidate for Nandigram.
