Yash's 'Toxic' creates a storm at the box office

Pan-India star Yash's new film, 'Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups', hit theatres on Wednesday. The movie is already creating a storm at the box office, writing new records. This is Yash's first big-screen appearance after the massive success of 'K.G.F: Chapter 2'. Director Geetu Mohandas's film crossed the ₹100 crore net collection mark in India on its very first day.

Language-wise breakdown of 'Toxic's' first-day net collections
Here's the language-wise breakdown for 'Toxic's' first-day net collections: Hindi: ₹55.00 crore, Kannada: ₹23.30 crore, Telugu: ₹16.00 crore, Tamil: ₹5.50 crore, Malayalam: ₹1.30 crore. The total India net collection stands at ₹101.10 crore. With this huge opening, Yash has proved his box office power once again. He is now a star with two back-to-back ₹100 crore openers, the first being 'K.G.F: Chapter 2'. 'Toxic' enters the box office race with a massive target
KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations have jointly produced 'Toxic', with Venkat K. Narayana and Yash as producers. Since this is Yash's first film after a long gap post-'KGF 2', expectations were sky-high, leading to massive pre-release business. Star producer Dil Raju reportedly bought the Telugu theatrical rights for a whopping ₹108 crore. The rights for other regions were also sold for huge amounts: Karnataka for around ₹100 crore, Tamil for ₹50 crore, overseas for ₹75 crore, and the rest of India (including Hindi) for ₹100 crore. This means 'Toxic' entered the race with a massive target of ₹450 crore. We'll have to see how it performs after its ₹100 crore opening day.

The star cast and the controversy
Geetu Mohandas directed this action-drama, which features a star-studded cast. Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth, and Huma Qureshi star as the heroines opposite Yash. Nayanthara appears in the role of Yash's sister, while Akshay Oberoi and Sudev Nair play important characters. The film's high-voltage action scenes, choreographed by Hollywood's JJ Perry, and Yash's screen presence are major highlights. However, the movie received negative reviews on its first day, with critics calling it 'torture', complaining about too much romance, and a weak story. This has reportedly angered many of Yash's fans.
