Off-spinner Sunil Narine, who is commonly referred to as the mystery spinner of Windies, has been reported for suspected action in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). It happened following his side Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) two-run win over Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

Narine played a pivotal role in the win, as his economical spell of 228 helped KKR heavily to bounce back. The win allowed KKR to climb to the third spot in the points table.

Although being reported, he has been put on the warning list and can continue to bowl in further matches of the tournament. Upon being reported again, he would be suspended from bowling in the tournament any further. He would then undergo a trial for the same by a committee set up by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

"The report was made by the on-field umpires [Ulhas Gandhe and Chris Gaffaney] according to the IPL's Suspected Illegal Bowling Action Policy," the IPL said in a statement. Meanwhile, this is not the first time he has been reported for the same.

Narine's first reported action came during the 2014 Champions League T20. It was also back in 2015 when he was reported during an ODI in Sri Lanka. Although he was cleared before the 2015 ICC World Cup, he opted to skip the tournament. He was reported again in IPL 2015, and it was then that he was handed a final warning. His last sanction came during the 2018 Pakistan Super League (PSL), before being cleared.

Narine has played a fertile role for KKR ever since he was roped in. To date, he has claimed 127 wickets in 116 matches at an economy of 6.75 and has a decent average of 23.8. He also has a five-wicket haul, as his best figures read 519. As a batsman, he has scored 815 runs in 62 innings at a strike-rate of 163.65, including three half-centuries.
