Fight against coronavirus: MS Dhoni donates money for daily wage workers in Pune

Several sportspersons have come forward to help the needy amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis in India. MS Dhoni is the latest to donate money


Bengaluru: Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has joined other sportspersons in helping the needy as the country fights against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Dhoni, who has not played for India since July 2019, has donated Rs 1 lakh to help daily wage workers in Pune. This information was shared by Dhoni’s wife Sakshi on Instagram, according to media reports on Friday (March 27).

The wicketkeeper-batsman, who recently was in Chennai for IPL 2020 training camp with his team Chennai Super Kings (CSK), is now back in Ranchi as India is under a 21-day lockdown due to coronavirus.

Dhoni has made the donation to Mukul Madhav Foundation (MMF). It is a Public Charitable Trust and does charitable activities in healthcare, social welfare, and education sectors.

In the midst of coronavirus crisis, cricketers and other sportspersons have come forward to help the needy.

Recently, former India cricketers Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan donated face masks in Vadodara. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has donated rice worth Rs 50 lakh in West Bengal.

World champion badminton player PV Sindhu donated Rs 5 lakh each to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments. Star sprinter Hima Das had donated one-month salary to Assam government.
