Synopsis

India continues to battle the second wave of COVID-19, while the shortage of oxygen is still troubling the health authorities. Meanwhile, BCCI has decided to supply enough oxygen concentrators, while the Pandya brothers have done the same.

The COVID-19 pandemic has trouble the entire world. Meanwhile, India has been severely affected, as the second wave is sweeping through the nation currently. At the same time, the health authorities struggle due to the lack of enough oxygen to treat the patients.

Amidst the tough time, everyone is trying to play their part and help the nation in some way or the other with enough oxygen. In the same light, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to help. The world’s richest cricket board has decided to donate 2,000 oxygen concentrators (10 litres) to numerous medical institutions across the nation.

“The nation has been hit by an unprecedented second wave of the coronavirus with demands for medical equipment and life-saving oxygen witnessing a major spike. Over the next few months, the Board will distribute the concentrators across India with the hope that critical medical aid and care will be provided to the needy patients and this initiative will reduce the havoc unleashed by the pandemic,” said BCCI in a release.

“The BCCI acknowledges the stellar role the medical and healthcare community has played and continues to play as we fight this long battle against the virus. They have truly been frontline warriors and have done whatever possible to shield us. The Board has always put health and safety at the top of the chart and remains committed to the cause. The oxygen concentrators will provide immediate relief to those affected and will help in their speedy recovery,” said BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.

Generally, the price of an oxygen concentrator is between ₹60,000 to ₹1 lakh. As for 2,000 such concentrators, it is likely to cost around ₹12 crore. BCCI has never shied away from helping the nation during this pandemic, having contributed ₹51 crore to PM Care Fund last year during the first wave.

Meanwhile, the Pandya brothers (Hardik and Krunal) have also played their roles. The duo has decided to contribute by dispatching some concentrators to the areas that have been severely affected. Earlier, they had announced that they would contribute around 200 concentrators to the rural areas.

The duo shared a picture of newly packed concentrators. “This new batch of Oxygen Concentrators are being dispatched to Covid centres with prayers in our hearts for everyones speedy recovery 🙏” wrote Krunal.

“We’re in the middle of a tough battle that we can win by working together 🙏 #repost @krunalpandya_official・・・This new batch of Oxygen Concentrators are being dispatched to Covid centres with prayers in our hearts for everyones speedy recovery 🙏” captioned Hardik.
