Amid the ongoing demand for the postponement of NEET PG 2023, the Supreme Court of India (SC) heard the plea filed by protesting students on Friday, February 24 and directed the NBE to come up with a solution. However, the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing until Monday, February 27, 2023. The Supreme Court said it is not passing any order and will keep the case open until the next hearing.
A bench of Justices S Ravindra Bhat and Dipankar Datta heard the case on Friday, February 24. Justice Ravindra Bhat said, "Continue on Monday. We want to know what the solution is. We are not saying anything; we are postponing. We are not passing orders in any case; we are keeping it open."
For months, NEET PG aspirants have requested that the NEET PG 2023 exam be postponed. The primary reason for the postponement is that candidates want to shorten the time between the NEET PG Result announcement and the NEET PG Counselling process.
According to the schedule, the NEET PG 2023 Results will be released on March 31, 2023. Aspirants' counselling was scheduled to begin in July. However, following the NEET PG internship deadline extension, the deadline was extended to August 11, 2023.
The counselling process would begin in September as per the schedule. Therefore, candidates have expressed concern that they will be idle and unemployed for five to six months, which will be highly disadvantageous to their careers. Thus, they have been pleading for a postponement.
The Telangana High Court heard a petition regarding the postponement of the NEET PG 2023 Exam before the Supreme Court. After hearing the case, the High Court ruled that the NBE should consider postponing the exam. According to the NBE schedule, NEET PG 2023 will be held on March 5, 2023, with admit cards will be out on February 27, 2023.
