NEET PG 2023 postponement: Supreme Court dismisses plea; examination on March 5

NEET PG 2023 postponement supreme court latest news: The NEET PG internship cut-off date was recently extended by the Centre. During the previous hearing, the National Board of Examinations for Medical Science (NBE) informed the Supreme Court that 2.09 lakh students had registered for NEET PG and that if the exam is postponed, a date for the exam to be held in the near future may not be available.
 


The Supreme Court has dismissed petitions seeking a postponement of the National Eligibility and Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2023. The NEET PG exam will be held as scheduled on March 5. A bench of Justices S Ravindra Bhat and Dipankar Datta heard the NEET PG 2023 postponement case. Following a hearing, the Supreme Court decided not to postpone the NEET PG 2023 Exam.

During the hearing, ASG Aishwarya Bhati said that NBE and MCC would begin the counselling process on July 15, 2023, rather than the August 11, 2023, deadline. Candidates could participate in the counselling process on a provisional basis.

The petitioners have requested that NEET PG 2023, which was scheduled for March 5, be moved to a later date. Students have claimed that there is insufficient time to prepare for the exam. On Friday, the court adjourned the hearing and directed the National Board of Examinations (NBE) to provide specific information and propose a solution.

The Centre recently extended the NEET PG internship cut-off date. During the previous hearing, the National Board of Examinations for Medical Science (NBE) informed the Supreme Court that 2.09 lakh students had registered for NEET PG and that if the exam is postponed, a date for the exam to be held in the near future may not be available.

Petitioners claim that if the NEET PG exam is held on March 5, counselling will begin until after August 11, the internship cut-off date.

Senior advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan, representing the petitioners, told the bench that doctors are on internship for 12 hours a day and have no time to study for the exam. 

NEET PG 2023: admit card released
The national board released the admit cards on Monday, February 27, 2023. The NEET PG exam has attracted approximately 2.9 lakh candidates. Candidates are advised to visit the NVR website for more information.
