Synopsis

Drunk truck driver killed 14 and injured 20 after his vehicle rammed them The incident occurred at Chittoor, recently Most of the victims who died are farmers 

 

The driver of the truck did not even have a license and was in the inebriated state, said sources. However, after the casualty and ruckus, he was in his senses to flee the place. The truck was coming from Tirupati and was carrying super phosphate and Sulpher to Nellore.

The driver, who lost the balance of the truck rammed water kiosk which was situated just next to the police station and killed six farmers standing outside. The farmers were standing in front of the police station regarding a case against illegal sand mining

Still, the speed of the truck was not under control, and it started running over the people. Within seconds it hit an electric pole and barged into the roadside shops. It hit many two-wheelers and a four-wheeler too. Above all, it killed 14 people and severely injured 20 people.

Two of the injured are journalists with a Telugu daily. Along with farmers, even police personnel sustained injuries.
