Andhra to have social media regulatory authority

Synopsis

The initiative is still in its very early stage but the state government is determined to regulate the usage of social media in the state.  Yanamala Rama Krishnudu, the minister of Finance & Planning, Commercial Taxes, Legislative Affairs is also expected to play a key role in creating the draft.

The state government of Andhra Pradesh may soon set up a social media regulatory authority (SMRA) to ensure more control over various social media platforms. The initiative is still in its very early stage but the state government is determined to regulate the usage of social media in the state. 

CM of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has reportedly instructed an ex-DGP to make the draft regulations and also to identify legal experts capable of addressing different issues related to social media. Yanamala Rama Krishnudu, the minister of Finance & Planning, Commercial Taxes, Legislative Affairs is also expected to play a key role in creating the draft of the authority, the Deccan Chronicle quoted sources as saying. 

The Andhra government is also consulting cyber law experts to figure out how to address the menace of social media against the chief minister and his family.
