TDP fail to please people with celebrating release of Godavari-Krishna waters

Synopsis

Telugu Desam government wished to celebrate a new festival which involved the release of Pattiseema Godavari waters The local TDP leaders conducted a puj. But this didn’t become a peoples festival. Only the TDP ministers could be seen expressing enthusiasm

The release of the Godavari waters from Pattiseema to the Krishna Delta Region was started sometime back. The Telugu Desam government is enthusiastically trying to make this a festival. Water and Irrigation Minister Devineni Uma organised a big puja last week when releasing the waters.

Many other Telugu Desam leaders also conducted puja. Even Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas conducted a puja to Godavari-Krishna rivers amidst the slogan ‘Krishna River: Farmers should flourish, Crops should flourish, State should be green and flourish with water wealth’. Last year, the Chief Minister released Godavari water from Pattiseema to Krishna Delta.

When Pattiseema Godavari waters flowed to each town, the local TDP leaders conducted a puja. They thought that this would be similar to that of the Pushkar celebrations. But this didn’t become a peoples festival. It seems like only the TDP Ministers, office holders and people expecting offices were creating a furore over this.

On the occasion of Pattiseema Godavari waters reaching Kaikalur constituency on Monday, a special puja was conducted by Minister Kamineni Srinivas, MP Maganti Babu and ex-MLA Jayamangalam at Poll Raj Canal, Vijaram Lakulu, Kaikaluru Mandal.

They lauded Chandrababu Naidu saying that the credit goes to him for giving irrigation water to the Krishna Delta region in the first week of July for the very first time in the last decade. Minister Kamineni Srinivas praised the Chief Minister as ‘matchless Bhagiratha’ as he aims at safeguarding the rights of the State through the convergence of rivers.

On the eve of the Godavari waters reaching Bandar Mandal, Minister Kollu Ravindra and MP Konakalla Narayana Rao went to SN Gollapalem in Bandar Mandal on bikes as a rally. They welcomed the waters and conducted puja.
