Chandrababu praises SRM Chancellor Pachamuthu, raises doubts of favouritism

Synopsis

TR Pachamuthu has a history of cheating students He was previously arrested and sent to prison But recently he was honoured in the new capital of Amaravathi

Private university SRM was granted 200 acres of land and was officially opened in Amaravathi  last week by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. The CM was all in praise of its Chancellor T.R. Pachamuthu alias Pari Vendhar. The CM may try to be oblivious to the crimes of Pachamuthu but his criminal history refuses to fade from history

The chancellor of the SRM University was once booked for cheating gullible students. He was arrested for offences under Sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal misappropriation of property entrusted to someone) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

The Chennai police had arrested Pachamuthu in connection with more than 100 complaints lodged by parents related to payments of money of several crores for securing admissions to medical courses in SRM. His close accomplice and film producer S. Madhavan absconded with Rs 70 crore. Daisy Rani and D. Srinivasa Rao had lodged a complaint against Pachamuthu that he encroached on their lands in Koyambedu.

It was surprising that a man with a record  was praised for his greatness and was acclaimed as an educator by the AP CM Chandrababu and the Central Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu in Amaravathi. Would Amaravathi become a knowledge hub with such criminal personalities?
