The fighter jets that would 'touch-and-go' on the Barmer highway would include Sukhoi-30MKI and Jaguars. Besides, the Hercules C-130J transport aircraft will also attempt to land on the highway. 

Asserting that India was prepared to deal with any eventualities in a bid to secure its sovereignty, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said that the government intends to make India strong so that the smaller countries can also feel safe and protected.

 Speaking at the Defence Service Staff College here, Singhsaid, “The foreign enemies have tried to destabilise the country since it got independence."

The defence minister went on to say that if anyone believes there is a clause in these regulations that might harm farmers' interests, the government is willing to sit down and discuss with them.

Singh was at INS Kochi in Kerala to review the progress of construction of the Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC).

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said he wants the Karwar base to be the largest naval base in Asia and, if needed, the budget would be enhanced.

The policy also set clear timelines with regard to compilation and publication of war/operations histories.

Kovind, 75, had undergone a health check-up at the Army Hospital (R&R) in Delhi following chest discomfort on Friday morning.  Post investigations, doctors advised him to undergo a planned bypass procedure.
