Mass grave of 30 stray dogs found in Bengaluru

In a tragic incident that occurred on Thursday morning, a mass grave of 30 dogs was found at Anjana Nagar in Bengaluru.

The incident came to light when a security guard of a private liquor manufacturer was on duty and heard a dog yelping. After doing a quick scan of the area, the guard stumbled upon the grave with an 18-month-old dog battling for its life.

Thinking on his feet, he informed his superiors who made the quick decision of calling the People For Animals (PFA) organisation.

PFA's rescue officer Naveen Kumar, along with animal welfare officer Sarath Lal, arrived at the scene and began rescue operations.

The rescued dog was given treatment and is now put up for adoption.

In a Bangalore Mirror news report, Naveen Kumar said, "Most of the dogs buried in the pit seem very healthy. They might have been killed... No NGO or lone person can resort to such a massacre."

Kumar also suspects the involvement of local governing authorities who may have taken this extreme step to put an end to the stray dog menace.
