Congress MLC Govind Rajs diary alleges Rs 600 cr payments steel flyover bribes

This crucial piece of ‘evidence’ was discovered by the I-T sleuths in raid at the residence of Karnataka Congress MLC Govind Raj and it alleged that it was hidden inside his bedroom. The IT department had called in Govind Raj for questioning on February 11, 2017. He is known to be a man of influence and is also known as a party fund-raiser.

Times Now has exclusively accessed the I-T file which comprises this diary. Like a meticulous record keeper, the entries in the book mention the initials of those who have given him the money and also of those to whom he has paid money. The question is that will this be the undoing of the Congress High Command? Do these diary entries point out how tainted the Congress government is, while blaming the BJP Yeddyurappa government for being scam-tridden ?

It gets even more interesting as an eye-watering sum of Rs 600 crore in payments is involved and some of these transactions have been listed as under Lok Sabha elections of 2014. These amounts have been routed to  mystery names under the initials AICC, AP, M Vora, SG office, RG office, DGS, Others etc.

The initials are allegedly been deciphered as All India Congress Committee (AICC), M V Vora (Motilal Vora). SG office (Sonia Gandhi Office), RG office (Rahul Gandhi office) and Digvijaya Singh (DGS).

The diary also has an entry under steel bridge from where Rs 65 crore was marked as received. There is one entry which shows Rs 7 crore being paid to media for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike elections.

THE FAMOUS STEEL FLYOVER MENTION

BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa had previously (Feb 12) charged the Siddaramaiah government with having paid Rs 1,000 crore to the Congress high command and has pointed out that Govind Raj’s diary corroborates it. Yeddyurappa had also charged Siddaramaiah with taking Rs 150 crore kickback for sanctioning steel flyover project in Bengaluru.

GOVIND RAJ, CONGRESS ON THEIR DEFENSE:

In his defence we have K Govindraj saying the diary was planted. Several ministers in the Congress government in Karnataka had received summons from the income tax department after their initials were found in the diary.  "I have not paid any money to the high command, or to the offices of SG, RG or MV as mentioned in the diary," he has been quoted by news agency IANS.

Senior leader of the Congress, Digvijaya Singh spoke to Times Now questioned the authenticity diary entries that were seized by the Income Tax department in March 2016 from Congress MLC Govind Raj. “Govind Raj has made statement to authorities concerned that it is a fake diary entry and that it is not his handwriting. Let the whole thing be examined. We totally deny this, and also we strongly condemn the political motive of maligning the Congress party by the BJP,” said Digvijaya Singh, whose initials are also alleged to have appeared on the list.
