Brussels: A beer named ‘Brahma’ and a woman standing next to it in a commercial has left many Hindus across the world shocked and hurt. Now a section of leaders has appealed to Belgium authorities to intervene.

Anheuser-Busch InBev, 'the world's largest brewer’ named its new product as 'Brahma'.

According to reports, president of Universal Society of Hinduism, Rajan Zed, "Linking Lord Brahma with an alcoholic beverage was very disrespectful."

He also mentioned that the beer making firm should not be in the business of religious appropriation, sacrilege, and ridiculing entire communities.

"Inappropriate usage of sacred Hindu deities or concepts or symbols or icons for commercial or other agenda was not okay as it hurt the devotees," Rajan said.

Hollywood celebrities Megan Fox and Jennifer Lopez have reportedly acted in ‘Brahma’ beer commercials.
