Cooked Rice (Bhat) – 1 cup
​​​​​​​Water – 3 cups
Asafoetida – 1 pinch
Black Salt – 1/2 teaspoon

  • Roasted Cumin Powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Green Chili – 1
  • Coriander Leaves – For garnishing
  • Lemon Juice – 1 teaspoon

Mash the rice

  • Lightly mash the cooked rice so that it dissolves in the kanji.

Add water

  • Add 3 cups of water to the rice and mix well.

Add spices

  • Add asafoetida, black salt, roasted cumin powder, and finely chopped green chili to it.

Enhance the taste

  • Add lemon juice to it and garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve chilled

  • Refrigerate the Bhat Kanji or mix it with cold water immediately and prepare it for drinking in 10 minutes.
