Pornhub's new AI experiment will now make it easier to search from its 5 million videos

Now, Pornhub, an adult entertainment site, has announced to launch an Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered model that detects over 10,000 pornstars in videos using computer vision. It plans to deploy the software that can recognise porn stars and tag them in the footage.
Pornhub’s new AI model is fed several thousand videos, in addition to official photos of pornstars. Depending upon what the model has learned, it can scan videos and return the matching pornstars.
Pornhub users can then validate what the AI model returns, either upvoting or downvoting the pornstar tags on the video, depending on its validity. The AI model will learn based on what the community has validated and will continue to become smarter.
In the next one year, Pornhub is looking to scan 5 million videos that are on its platform. It also plans to add the ability to start scanning for category and tag detection in the videos.
So, for example, the AI model will know if a video is shot outside and will add it to the “Public” category. Or, it will know if there are blondes in a video and automatically add it to the “Blonde” category. The model will also be able to detect various sex positions and be able to properly tag them.
“Artificial intelligence has quickly reached a fever pitch, with many companies incorporating its capabilities to considerably expedite antiquated processes. And that’s exactly what we’re doing with the introduction of our AI model, which quickly scans videos using computer vision to instantaneously identify pornstars,” said Corey Price, VP, Pornhub. “Now, users can search for a specific pornstar they have an affinity for and we will be able to retrieve more precise results. Our model will undoubtedly play a pivotal role moving forward too, especially considering that over 10,000 videos per day are added to the site. In fact, over the course of the past month alone, while we tested the model in beta, it was able to scan through 50,000 videos that have had pornstars added or removed on the video tags.”
TheVerge points out that deployment of facial recognition also have worrying effects. For instance, may choose popular porn sites to upload revenge porn, and they can do so staying anonymous. However, pornhub says that the system will detect faces only of known stars.
