Meet Jia Jia, China's super realistic 'robot goddess'

The first of a kind interactive robot from China not only looks very much like a real human but can interact with people near to her. 
 

 

Christened Jia Jia, the humanoid robot can recognise facial expressions of others and respond with micro-expressions. She can even identify the gender of the person interacting with her. 
 

The 'robot goddess' as she is called by her online fans can speak in Mandarin Chinese and English. The humanoid has natural eye movement and can talk in sync with its lip movement. She can also give accurate answers to queries on weather and hold basic conversations.  

 

 


The life-size robot has the beautiful face of a woman and is drawn five students of The University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, the capital of east China's Anhui Province.
 

The humanoid is designed to recognise human - machine interaction and has autonomous navigation facility. It also has simple arm and leg movements and turns its head and can bow. 
 

 

 

The robot is controlled using cloud technology. Creator Chen Xiaoping and his colleagues are teaching Jia Jia deep learning abilities and believes robots like her can manage a range of menial tasks in hospitals, nursing homes, restaurants and households.
