WhatsApp stated earlier that whoever will not accept their privacy policy, their accounts will be deleted on May 15. But, recently, they issued another statement where they scrapped their own declaration.

The statement said, "While the majority of users who have received the new terms of service have accepted them, we appreciate some people haven't had the chance to do so yet. No accounts will be deleted on May 15 because of this update and no one in India will lose functionality of WhatsApp either. We will follow up with reminders to people over the next several weeks."

Even though, in February, WhatsApp issued strict notices about deleting accounts. It is of recent events that they have re-thought their policy and said that they wouldn't be deleting their users' accounts.

When they rolled out their privacy policy, many WhatsApp users shifted to other platforms like Signal. Now, we don't know why the company took a U-turn, maybe because they didn't want to face any more backlashes or a lot of users have already signed up for the policy that they don't have to delete the remaining.
