Apple to launch iPadOS 17 soon, may drop support for THESE iPad models
Apple, the US-based tech giant, is expected to unveil iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 during its highly-awaited Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote on June 5. Reports suggest that the upcoming operating system for iPad, will no longer support the first-generation 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro, as well as the fifth-generation iPad.
Apple is gearing up for its annual developer conference, WWDC 2023, on June 10th. The tech giant may also present the highly awaited Apple Reality Pro AR/VR headset, media reports have suggested. But that's not all; Apple will also likely release realityOS software for the headgear and the next iPhone model. For its iPhone and iPad devices, the firm will also unveil iOS 17 and iPadOS 17.
According to a claim by iPhoneSoft, three iPad models would no longer be supported by the future iPadOS 17. This is consistent with earlier reports that certain iPhone models will no longer be supported by iOS 17.
The report lists the iPad models that won't work with iPadOS 17 and advises consumers to remember that iPad models released after 2017 should work with the new operating system. However, older models may not support the latest features and capabilities. It's important to note that while a device may be listed as compatible with a new software update, it may not necessarily support all features offered by that software.
According to the source, all iPhone models that can run iOS 16 will support iOS 17, despite an earlier story that said three iPhone models won't be supported by the new software version.
The iPad 5th generation, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro 1st generation, and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 1st generation are the three iPad models that are said to no longer support iOS 17 once the updated software is launched.
The iPad Air 3rd generation and after, the iPad 6th generation and later, the iPad mini 5th generation and later, and any iPad Pro model released in 2017 or later are among the iPad models that are most likely to be compatible with iOS 17.
As for the awaited launches coming at WWDC 2023, all the eyes are on the upcoming lineup for Macbook and AR or Vr headsets.
