After wives die, Malappuram man rapes, impregnates minor daughter

In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old girl was raped by her father resulting in the minor getting pregnant. Childline officials rescued the girl from her home, where she was held captive for a month. 
 

Acting on a tip-off, the officials arrived at the house, in Malappuram, to find that the man was staying with his eight children. He had two wives, and after their death, the family was living in the house without any contact with neighbours. 
 

The minor, a class 10 student, had not attended the school for a month. The girl was found locked up in a room in the house. Medical examination revealed that the girl was six months pregnant. 
 

Father was at the house when Childline officials reached there and resisted their attempt to enter the house. The officers then sought the help of police and saved the girl. 
 

The girl revealed that she was impregnated by her father and she and other children were warned against interacting with neighbours. Officials rescued the children and sent the girl and her sister to Nirbhaya home while her brothers were sent to a state home. 
 

This is not the first case of sexual assault by father reported from the state. In September 2016, another minor girl was raped by her father, in Wayanad. The incident came to light when the mother grew suspicious over the behaviour of the child and took her for medical examination. The father was arrested and booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) 2012.
