The Public Distribution Shops cannot refuse ration if the card is not linked to Aadhaar, ration will not be denied in this pretext said Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, reported Kannada Prabha.

The Minister has stated that in case any PDS refuses to give ration in the pretext that the card is not linked to Aadhaar complaint should be launched with Food Department officials. Immediately action will be taken against such PDS and ration will be provided to public.

Of the total 1.08 crore BPL card holders in the State only 900 cards are not linked to Aadhaar and the rest are linked. Some people suffering from terminal illness do not want to link the card to Aadhaar with the apprehension that their chronic illness would be revealed.  Some have not linked for other personal problems but food distribution to such cards will not be stopped. However, to make new cards linking Aadhaar is compulsory, the Minister said.
