Rapid COVID-19 test performed in Purulia before Durga puja
The West Bengal government in their report has made an assumption that the number of COVID cases may increase after Durga Puja. Therefore, District Magistrate of Purulia has found out all the places where public gatherings are most frequent. COVID tests were done at those places. However, the reports came mostly negative.
The number of COVID cases may increase after Durga Puja. Such fears have been expressed in the report of the state administration. The social gatherings, outings during Durga puja might lead to a very bad situation this year. Therefore, the district administration has been directed to take action before Puja. Rapid COVID test starts in Purulia.
In Purulia, District Magistrate Rahul Majumder has found out all the places where public gatherings are most frequent. COVID tests were done at those places. However, the tourism workers and shopkeepers in the area were tested first.

In the hills of Ayodhya, workers associated with tourism are numerous. 113 people did the COVID test. However, the reports came negative. COVID tests were also done at a shopping mall in Jhalda town. So far, 1,19, 830 people have been tested for COVID in Purulia. Out of them, 4,241 reports came positive.
Deben Mahato Hospital in Purulia has 60 beds for treatment and Rotary Hospital has 40 beds. District Magistrate Rahul Majumder said that the Durga puja committees will be given 50,000 masks and 1 lakh sanitisers to give to the puja visitors.
