Madhya Pradesh likely to draft population control bill as demands grow
After Assam and UP, now Madhya Pradesh also joined the chorus to bring a draft law on population control after a ruling party MLA demanded similar legislation. CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan received the letter from MLA Rameshwar Sharma.
Two days after the Uttar Pradesh government proposed a draft bill for 'population control', now the obsession for the same subject has come from a BJP MLA from Madhya Pradesh who urged CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan to bring similar legislation.
Â
MLA Rameshwar Sharma from Huzur Assembly segment stated that in the last 10 years also the state's population increased by 1.5 crore and resulted in 8.75 crore. As per Sharma, this population is more than compared to different countries combined together in the west.
He also gave a reference to Germany (8.37 crore), France (6 crore), England(6.78 crore), Italy (6 crore) and (4.67 crore) saying these countries have good resources and are able to see progress and development. The MLA in his letter said by introducing the population control law, it will put Madhya Pradesh on a progressive path.
Going by the trend in BJP ruled Assam and UP states, the Madhya Pradesh government may also pitch in for a similar draft bill.
The bill primarily focuses on pitching two and one child policy to avail state government schemes and benefits.
Â
And for the government servants, the state government will ensure such benefits such as soft loans towards house construction, purchase, maternity/paternity leave up to one year with full payment and allowances and others.
Similarly for other than government employees, the family opting for a single child may get Rs 80,000 one-time settlement if the child is a boy and in the case of a baby girl at birth, the family gets Rs 1 lakh. Preference will also be given in schools and fees may be reduced. A rebate in utilities will be given.
