From his struggling days to landing in the film industry, SP Balasubrahmanyam toiled to establish himself as an undisputed king of singers. He has over 40,000 songs to his credit, but did you know that the legendary was a smoker too?

In an interview with a regional TV channel, the legendary singer told people that he is not a saint and used to smoke.

The singer said he could not be without ice water and ice cream and did not stick to any diet or practice for singing.

He said life is to enjoy and he also did it. He confessed that he smoked for 20 years during the early days of his singing career but came out of it.

The singer had also appealed to people not to fall for such habits.

SP Balasubrahmanyam was admitted to MGM Hospital on August 5 and battled the COVID-19 virus. The singer’s condition became serious on August 13. However, he made progress and recently his son SP Charan said his father was doing better and was undergoing physiotherapy. The singer was eagerly waiting to go home just two days ago but on Thursday, his condition turned critical and he died on September 25.
