Best apology in '47 years' sooths steamed Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan recently lost his cool at an entertainment website, which published pictures of him in a specific costume, donned for an ad campaign. Big B was clicked by several photographers, and he had asked them all not to publish the photos, as the client who commissioned the ad wanted to keep the look under wraps.
In return, he promised them pictures in normal clothes after the photo shoot.
So far so good. But things took a downturn the next day, with Bachchan discovered that many digital publications had put up the images anyway. Losing his cool, he picked on one of them in series of angry tweets, accusing them of unethical conduct.
T 2355 - Hey @pinkvilla your photographer printed picture which i requested not to because look was being guarded by Clients ! NOT ETHICAL

T 2355 -#pinkvilla you write I avoided pictures. NO, requested not to later gave pictures in normal dress, you write negative ! NOT ETHICAL

T 2355 -#pinkvilla photographer promised me he would not click ! I told him I shall give pictures when shoot is over ! Still ? NOT ETHICAL

The entertainment website initially tried to palm off the mistake by claiming that Big B simply didn't want to be photographed, but when faced with further dressing downs by the senior actor, it apologised, claiming that the editors were not aware of the communication between the photographer and Big B.
Eventually, it took a strong apology from the photographer to sooth the mightily ruffled feathers. Whatever the apology was, it was a work of art. Here is what Bachchan had to say about it -
“I have to admit that in my entire professional career of 47 years, I have never ever received such an apology or an acknowledgement. Thank you for your honesty and the respect that you have found in my heart. This is a rare occurrence, and I shall always treasure it.
I seek your permission to print this letter of yours, on my social media platforms, not because it comes in my favour, but because it sets a wonderful example on the credibility and ethics of the media – something that I have sincerely believed in.
I would understand your disallowance if you were to negate this request. Thank you again. With great regard and admiration.”
