The state of Florida in the United States of America (USA) has been facing issues with the invasion of Burmese pythons. Therefore two experienced snake catchers from Tamil Nadu have been roped in to capture and kill these pythons.
Â
These two men belong to the Irula tribe and they are experienced python catchers. They are being helped by two translators. As of now they have already bagged 13 giant snakes in less than two weeks.
Â
The pythons have been rapidly spreading through the Everglades and are eating up native animals. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission have spent $ 68,888 to hire Masi Sadaiyan and Vadivel Gopal.
Â
Â
"If this works, it's great. There's just a thin stretch of road between us and the mainland, so of course the snakes were going to slither their way here. We've got a lot of endangered species down here, so it's just like a smorgasbord for those snakes," said Elizabeth Moscynski, president of the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce.
Â
According to the statistics of the commission, the number of Burmese pythons have gone up to somewhere between 5000 â 10000 since the 1980âs. These pythons have been feeding on rabbits, raccoons, alligators and deer. Photos and videos of dead pythons with swollen stomach have also gone viral in the last few years. Therefore, the commission have roped in these two Indian men to contain and eradicate these deadly pythons.
