What did this rat do to deserve a punishment like this?

Synopsis

The rat has been accused of stealing rice from a convenient store The rodent is seen tied to a trolley with a post-it note attached shaming it

This clearly was not this rat’s day. You may have heard of humans being beaten, punished, stripped etc for committing crimes like thefts and murder but in China, even the rats are not spared.

According to the DailyMail: In the first picture, a post-it note was written in a conversational manner between the rat and the man who tied him up there. The note read: 'Huh, is this the best you could do? Even if you beat me to death, I would not admit that the rice at your home had been stolen by me.' In another picture, the rat had a different post-it note which read: 'I dare not do it again!'

An uploader on Chinese micro-blogging platform Weibo, posted these images of the rodent spotted at a convenience store. The uploader’s location indicated southern China's Guangdong Province. The Weibo user under the screen name 'jiu lian shan she zhang' posted these two pictures.

Now, the rat and its plight has become an international sensation, with people eager to know how it all happened and where.
