Kabul terror attack toll over 90, Joe Biden vows to hunt down attackers

The US military has vowed to hunt down the leaders of Islamic State, which claimed responsibility for the suicide attack. In a statement, the ISIS-K said that the target of the attack were translators and collaborators with the US Army.

The death toll in Thursday's terror attack outside Kabul's Hamid Karzai International Aiport and at the Baron Hotel nearby has now reached 90, including 10 US marines.

The US military has vowed to hunt down the leaders of the Islamic State, which claimed responsibility for the suicide attack. In a statement, the ISIS-K said that the target of the attack were translators and collaborators with the US Army.

ISIS-K (Khorasan Province) is a regional affiliate of the Islamic State that is active in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The first blast went off among the crowd that was waiting outside one of the airport gates to be allowed inside so that they could board one of the few evacuation flights available. The Taliban claimed that the responsibility for the security of this gate -- the Abbey Gate -- was with the American soldiers. The second attack was near the Baron Hotel nearby.

US Central Command chief General Frank McKenzie warned of the possibility of more attacks targetting the airport by ISIS in the coming days using rockets or explosive-laden vehicles.

US President Joe Biden said that his country will not be deterred by terrorists and vowed to hunt down the terrorists and make them pay for the deadly attacks.

Delivering remarks about Thursday's terror attack, Biden said that the US has evacuated over 100000 people from Afghanistan in the last few days despite the extraordinary dangers.

"We can, we must complete our mission," Biden asserted, adding, "We will not be deterred by terrorists. We will continue the evacuation."

Condemning the attack and mourning the loss of lives, Indian Ambassador to UN TS Tirumurti made a statement in the UN Security Council meeting in which he said the attacks reinforced the need for the world to stand unitedly against terrorism and all those who provide sanctuaries to terrorists.
