A TMC worker was killed in Baruipur of South 24-Parganas district after a clash broke out between members of the opposition alliance CPI(M) and Indian Secular Front (ISF).
The incident took place around 8:30 pm on Wednesday (March 24) in the East Belegachhi area of Baruipur East Assembly. The deceased has been identified as Ruhul Amin Middye, 62, police said.
After the murder of Ruhul, Trinamool Minister Arup Biswas visited the area and alleged, “The CPM, ISF, and BJP had started the politics of murder in Bengal. They are trying to occupy the area by killing. But their dream will not succeed.”

Trinamool activists clashed with the CPM-ISF alliance in the Belegachhi area of Baruipur police station on Wednesday, police said. Allegedly, one party started beating the other party with bamboo sticks. 10 people were injured in this incident. Ruhul was rushed to Baruipur Hospital and taken to a private hospital adjacent to the EM bypass, where doctors declared him dead.
Based on a police complaint lodged by a TMC activist, a case has been registered against 15 people, of whom five have already been arrested and a manhunt has been launched to nab the others.
Local TMC leader Nausar Ali Midd complained, "I was campaigning in support of Baruipur East Center candidate Vibhas Sardar in central Belegachhi. Then the supporters of the alliance made offensive remarks targeting the deputy chief of the panchayat Saifuddin Mollah. An argument broke out between the two sides. CPM-ISF and BJP workers attacked with sticks and iron rods.”

A delegation led by Minister Arup Biswas arrived in the area on Thursday afternoon. They went to the house of the deceased. The delegation included Baruipur West Center candidate Biman Bandyopadhyay, Baruipur Block Trinamool President Shyamsunder Chakraborty and Baruipur East Center candidate Vibhas Sardar.
