CBI summons TMC leader Partha Chatterjee in ICore chit fund scam

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday (March 12) summoned Trinamool secretary general Partha Chatterjee in connection with the ICore chit fund scam.
 


The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday (March 12) summoned Trinamool secretary general Partha Chatterjee in connection with the ICore chit fund scam.

According to reports, Partha Chatterjee has been asked to appear at the CBI office in Kolkata on March 15.

Partha Chatterjee said, “I went where I was called as the Minister of Industries. Do I have to give an explanation for that?”

The CBI had registered the case against ICore group which had allegedly raised over Rs 3,000 crore from people by offering high returns on investments and diverted a portion of these funds, defaulting on promised returns.

Anukul Maity, the head of the main accused in the multi-crore ICO scandal, died in jail after a long imprisonment. Journalist Sumon Chatterjee was imprisoned in Bhubaneswar for a long time in this case.
