Former Indian women hockey captain files for divorce over domestic violence

Imphal: Former Indian women hockey team captain and Arjuna Awardee, Waikhom Suraj Lata Devi, on February 23 said she has filed for divorce after suffering years of ‘domestic violence’ by her husband, whom she accused of physically abusing her since the time of their marriage. “I have been married for 15 years. My husband has physically abused me from the time of the marriage. He also demanded dowry. I have filed for divorce,” Suraj Lata Devi said.
