Bengaluru: To prevent deaths caused by dengue, the Family and Health Department of Karnataka initiated a programme to create awareness about the dangers of dengue on National Dengue Day.
The deputy director of National Vector Borne Disease control (NVBDC) Shivaraj Sajjan Shetty spoke about ways to prevent one from falling prey to dengue. He also stated that “After active intervention by the department there has been a 75% reduction in number of cases as observed in 2018.” He also says that to further decrease the number of cases they are on high alert and are doing whatever is possible to increase awareness.
According to the reports there were 17844 confirmed dengue cases with 10 deaths reported in 2017 in Karnataka which decreased to 4848 cases with a death toll of 5 in 2018.
