Bengaluru: Nephrologist, director of Manipal Institute of Nephrology and Urology, Dr H Sudarshan Ballal spoke exclusively to Asianet Newsable about the rise in dengue and other viral diseases in Bengaluru.
“We tested about 300 people for viral illnesses in June of 2018. This time the number of cases has gone up four times. We have tested almost 1,200 people in June of this year,” said Dr Ballal.
He said that there is an increase in viral illnesses every 2-3 years. While a large number of dengue-like illnesses were seen in 2017, there was a lull in 2018. He said that there seems to be a significant spurt of viral illnesses this year which could be due to the rise in mosquito population in the city.
