BBMP's delay in pruning trees claims life of 24-year-old

Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s delay in pruning trees has caused the death of a 24-year-old, who was the sole breadwinner for his family. The victim, Abraar, was heading home after work when the branch of an old Mayflower tree fell on him. Abraar, who was riding his vehicle at the time was crushed and died on the spot. The incident occurred in RT Nagar.

He worked as an executive in an event management company.

He is survived by his parents and two sisters. His aged father also suffers from a heart ailment.

Family members have demanded that they receive compensation from the BBMP without any delay. BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad who termed the incident as unfortunate said that the BBMP will provide compensation after collecting required documents like the FIR and the autopsy report.
