Despite PM Modi announcing a complete lockdown due to Coronavirus for 21 days, markets, shops in certain areas function as usual. This non-compliance was reported from Gadag in North Karnataka. As today is Ugadi, a new year feast for Kannadigas, residents rushed to markets to purchase items. Police who witnessed this through media rushed to the spot with a loud speaker and lathis in an effort to clear the shops and force stores to shut down.
