First, a wasteland was turned into a healthy park. Few years later, a cultural centre, a medicinal plants garden and a gym were added and now a vermicompost that can supply manure to 774 parks in BBMP limits has provided solutions to the once much greener city of Bengaluru.

According to mayor Gautham Kumar Jain, the Yediyur ward representative showed a lot of interest and installed a vermicompost unit. After 28 days of filling the cement pit with leaves, soil and green waste and releasing 10 kilograms of earthworms, the entire pit has turned into manure.

The mayor says he is contemplating replication of the same model in a few more wards across the city.
