Vijayapura Police nabbed a notorious criminal Bagappa Harijan in connection with an extortion case. Police after the arrest had the accused undergo a COVID test, and he was later produced before a court. Harijan is the second accused in the case. The main accused Lakshmikanth is still at large.
In July, Namdev Donge, a jeweller, was issued threats and asked to pay Rs 5 crore in order for his life to be spared.
The victim filed a complaint at Chadachan Police Station following which a probe was initiated.
