Mangaluru/Bengaluru: Though in capital city Bengaluru, security has been heightened, normal life was partially disrupted today as protesters hurled stones at a Tirupati-Mangaluru bus in Farangipet on Thursday in Mangaluru while services of app-based cabs and autorickshaws were affected. However, no injuries were reported. Special night rounds by officers and staff also took place and strict vigil was kept from as early as 4 am. About 180 rowdies involved in carvery and PF cases have been detained in police stations as a preventive measure in Bengaluru.
Bus services and Namma Metro continue to operate as usual and schools and colleges are functioning normally. The protest called by the Karnataka Sanghatanegala Okkoota, comprising a few factions of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) has the backing of Ola-Uber cab drivers' association, a few auto unions, associations of farmers, street vendors, trade unions and transporters.
