With complaints pouring in from the public about how areas under flyovers, under bridges and junctions near the underpass have become a mess with garbage and debris, open defecation and illegal activities, the BBMP reached out to corporates and volunteers to adopt an area with an aim to transform it.

Under the ‘adopt a flyover’ initiative, the area under Veeranapalya flyover has now become India's first wildlife-themed arena.

The 35,000 square feet area that was in mess was developed in phases. Volunteers from Ugly cleaned and painted the place. Later, the firm L&T developed the area as part of their corporate social responsibility.

Now, the place has sculptures of an elephant, tiger and other animals. Information about wildlife and the importance of forests and environment are on display. The place has also witnessed a change in landscape to keep the greenery intact and give people a relaxed feeling as they pass through the arena.
